Dogwood Festival

I had an awesome time at the Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday with some of the SnBers.  There was some awesome jewelry, great food, and yummy wine. Also there was plenty to keep us amused and sometimes horrified. I bought some dill pickles that are the closest to my grandma's home made dill pickles I've ever tried and trust me I've tried a lot. Also I bought some wonderful apple cinnamon tea jelly that has already been spread on some toast and also a bagel. There was funnel cake with heaps of powdered sugar, just the way I like it and  great conversation after at Starbucks. In all I'd say it even made up for Garrett being sick all weekend. He gets mad at himself when he's sick so he's really hard to take care of. I hope I can make it to The Java Joint on Thursday, maybe that will make this next week more bearable. Sorry I have no grammatical structure in this post, I am tired and hungry. I thought maybe while I was waiting for food, I would post. It didn't work out so well.

New Shoes!!!

I have just finished reorganizing my shoe closet. I put all of my boots in another closet hoping I won't need them for a while, organized all the shoes in order of color, ones I wear often, dress shoes, sneakers, all slip ons and sandals are on the floor of the closet. I still need to get a shelf for the floor so I can have more layers instead of stacking some sandals on top of each other, but it's getting there.
Why have I done all of this? Other than the usual spring cleaning I am making room for a few new pairs.
 Sexy red shoes
Sexy silver shoes
and for fun...Sexy office girl shoes
I'm really excited about all of them, and the fact that I will get a chance to wear them next month, and if I can come up with a reason to wear them before then...

The people that surround you...

This weekend was awesome. I got to see an amazing girl marry someone who makes her gloriously happy, and then I got to dance with a bunch of great friends after. I realized while I was there how much of our experience is created by the people that surround us. The girl is a friend I made while working at a movie theatre, the friends I had an awesome time dancing with worked there as well. This was not a recent job, all of us have moved on to other occupations, other friends, other everything. The thing that seems interesting about it is we are all still friends. We all loved that job, not because of the job itself but because of the people. Not one of us, as far as I know, has found another job in which you are so able to become good friends with your coworkers in such a short amount of time as we all did. I know that a lot of this is due to the nature of a movie theatre job, lots of free time, common bond over interest in movies, late nights with nothing to do after getting off of work, but I also believe a lot of it has to do with the fact that we happened upon a really awesome group of people in a very unlikely combination, that will likely only come once in a lifetime. So thank you Brittney, for finding an amazing guy, for marrying him, for being awesome and most importantly for allowing me to realize that the people that surround you can really impact the way you feel about everything you do. Including make a semi-crappy job the best experience ever.

One door closes...

The problem I have with the door closing and another one opening is the fact that no one tells you the new door might lead to somewhere worse than the room you're already in. We recently had to pay a bit to fix my car and at the same time took Garrett's car to be checked out. After all was said and done, Garrett noticed his brakes were a bit squishy, for yarn squishy is good, not so much for the brakes. When we got home, he looked under the car and saw an enormous puddle of brake fluid. I commented on Max Cady possibly hanging around in the bushes somewhere, but really it was as if someone had cut the brake lines on his car. We took it in again and now they have to replace the brake lines, replace the oil pump, and do a bunch of other fiddly things. We have no idea what the price is going to be but I imagine the beautiful dining room set I have waited so long for may have to suffer.
I am assuming the cars have taken notice of when tax returns come in. Stupid cars.

The game of monopoly...IRL

So all day yesterday everything that happened seemed like a card I drew from a monopoly game. You get an iphone! Your car repair bill is 600 dollars. Then apparently I won a beauty contest because they knocked 200 dollars off of my car, which is awesome. Also I got to hang out with my friend's new baby. 6 months old and adorable. Now today, I get to return clothes, possibly get new ones and hopefully eat more than one meal since I will actually have a car all day. Yesterday I didn't have a car all day and we hadn't had time to go to the grocery so I felt like a scene out of Friday. I had cereal but no milk, peanut butter and no bread, hummus and no pita chips. Here's hoping yesterday was the start of the world looking up for me.

I shall try again...

I really suck at this blog thing. I never post and when I want to post, I keep thinking I'll do it when I have had time to think. From now on I will try to post whatever I am thinking or have done without any thought as to how to word things.
For the last 2 months, I have had all kinds of issues. It's weird that it all started with strep throat and now I have a tunnel in my boob. Yes a tunnel. TMI I know, but still it's a little disconcerting and I wanted to get it out there. So you know when your Dr. tells you to just pour a little peroxide in the tunnel, it hurts. Who would have thought that peroxide would hurt that much. So now I hate my Dr. and I'm not too fond of peroxide anymore either.
I have wanted to go to SnB for going on 2 months and for some reason every Thursday something comes up. This is getting really annoying. I was sick 3 of those Thursdays, my back was out for one of them, my car was in the shop for 2 of them, one of them had something to do with Garrett agreeing to dinner with his family after I had told him for a week I would not be here and I really like going to dinner with his family so I went. I don't remember the other one but seriously, I will do everything in my power to be at the next one.
I will henceforth try to return to happy non-ranty posts, but thanks for listening (reading).
